Title: Front Desk Attendant
Reports To: Center Fitness Club Manager
Facility: CRC
Status: Part-Time
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The Front Desk Attendant is responsible to receive and assist callers on the telephone and in person; process memberships, group fitness passes, and personal training; greet members in a friendly manner and provide information to potential members; monitor laundry levels and locker room upkeep on an as-needed basis throughout the shift.
Required Education and Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be proficient in working with computers, responsible cash handling and providing excellent customer service. Must be certified in CPR/AED.
Schedule:
Hours will vary. The schedule will be altered on an as-needed basis. Extra hours may be required at various times.

- Monitoring and cleaning pool decks and concession decks, assisting patrons at entrance gate at the beginning of the public sessions and during swim lesson times, providing assistance and information to all patrons of the facility as needed. Helping supervisors to maintain the facility at the highest levels of safety while providing the utmost in customer service at all times. Projecting an image of professionalism and pride including wearing the Park District issued uniform at all times while on duty. Other duties as assigned by Facility Supervisors.
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must be able to work in direct sunlight in various climate conditions.
- Must be available to work for the entire operating season from opening day through the last day of operation.
- Must be available for pre-season site specific training to include: Slide rules, deck monitoring, locker room rules and responsibilities, admissions gate monitoring, safety, scheduling and site specific policies and procedures.
- Under the direction of the Head Lifeguards and Assistant Facility Manager, lifeguards are responsible for patrolling the pool in order to maintain the absolute safety of the facility. Enforcing rules, applying first aid and resuscitation techniques when needed, supervising swimmers in assigned areas of the pools during its use, preventing accidents, maintaining discipline and making rescues when necessary. Practicing rescue skills, first aid techniques, and CPR skills to remain at “rescue ready” levels at all times throughout the season. Reporting any discipline, safety, or maintenance concerns to the Manager on Duty immediately. Other duties as assigned by the Head Lifeguard or Assistant Facility Manager
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must meet vision standards (corrected or uncorrected) as required by StarGuard.
- As a condition of employment, must be able to pass all elements of the StarGuard Lifeguard training program including physical skills exams and written tests.
- Lifeguards must attend all pre season training sessions as designated.
- In-service training throughout the summer is required.
- Lifeguards will be asked to work extra hours as weather and usage dictates.
- Lifeguards may be sent home due to inclement weather or closing of the facility.
- Lifeguards must maintain their given schedule through August 15
- Lifeguards must not leave for extended vacation time during the season.
- No more than one week of consecutive vacation time is allowed
- Swim Lesson Instructors will be responsible for teaching children to swim under the Wilmette Park District Swim Lesson Program guidelines. Instructors will set up the pools before lessons, clean up after lessons and properly and neatly store all lesson equipment. Maintaining the highest levels of safety during the lesson times, while providing the children with the best lesson experience possible. Communicating any conflicts or challenges with the Learn to Swim Supervisors and working as a team with the other instructors and supervisors to resolve these conflicts on a timely basis. Teach private lessons as assigned.
- Must be at least 16 years of age and enjoy working with children.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Training would be offered to those who show interest and enthusiasm for the job during the interview process.
- Must be available for all pre season training sessions and the entire operating season and in-service training sessions as designated by the Assistant Facility Manager.
- Weekday Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:30am-1:15pm
- Weekend Hours: Saturdays 8:45am - 11:15am, Sundays 8:45am - 11:15am
- Instructors must be available for the full 7 weeks of the lesson program
- Instructors must attend all pre season training sessions as designated.
- Instructors must attend all in-service training sessions as designated.
