Wilmette Tennis Club
The Wilmette Tennis Club has been serving tennis enthusiasts for nearly 36 years—since October 1972. The eight indoor courts, locker rooms and Pro Shop are open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Friday from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Play is by reservation and can be booked as a Tennis Club Member or non-member. Standing reserved court times are selected through a Reserved Court Time Lottery

Babysitting is available during the Indoor Season at the Wilmette Tennis Club

  • Resident registration for Basic Level classes begins Tuesday, May 6, at 9 a.m.

  • Register in-person only at Wilmette Tennis Club.

  • Balls are supplied, but racquets are not.

Summer Outdoor Tennis
Court Reservations
May 24 - September 1

  • Residents may reserve outdoor courts by calling 847-256-9676 up to 25 hours in advance. Reservations for 8 a.m. will be taken 24 hours in advance. Reservations for 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. courts at Gillson Park will be taken at 6 p.m.  Same day reservations cannot be taken because court reservations are posted at each court by 8 a.m. daily.
  • Non-residents may play on open courts or by "racking-up."
  • When making reservations by telephone, please give your name, phone number and name of one other player in your group.
  • Please review the Outdoor Court Regulations.  Following posted rules and observing court reservation is vital to the continued enjoyment of the outdoor courts by all players.

Court Regulations

  • All players may "rack-up" when no reservation sheet is posted or if open court time appears on the reservation sheet.
  • No one may rack-up more than two hours in advance.
  • Please arrive for your reservation promptly; court reservations will be held for five minutes.  After five minutes, courts may be claimed by waiting players.
  • Reserved court time is restricted to the time allotment on each court, 1 hour or 1½  hours.  However, players may rack-up for an additional, non-consecutive hour of play.
  • Play begins on the hour or as indicated for the 1½ hour courts.  Please respect other players and vacate your court promptly.
  • To accommodate working adults, outdoor courts are reserved for adult play (18 and over) after 5 p.m. weekdays and all day weekends.  However, juniors may play if adults are not waiting.  Juniors employed full-time weekdays should contact Darrell Smith, 847/256-9682, to arrange for evening and weekend court time.
  • Only regulation tennis shoes are permitted in the court area.
  • Shirts must be worn at all times during play.
  • Littering the courts is subject to a fine.
  • Players serving or playing alone must give way to two or more players.
  • Private and Group Lessons are taught by Wilmette Park District staff ONLY.
  • Non-tennis activities are prohibited on the tennis courts.
  • Only players are allowed on the tennis courts.
  • Vulgarity and/or rude behavior is prohibited.

The Wilmette Women's and Men's Tennis Associations are independent of the Wilmette Tennis Club. Summer activities include singles, doubles, mixed doubles, challenge ladders, team tennis, and a doubles round-robin league. Whatever your playing level or time schedule, there is an event for you. Travel Teams and Leagues include:
Prime-Time Players: To accommodate women who have limited weekday time and would like to play in the evenings or on weekends.
Inter-Community teams
Competitive Team Tryout League (for determining eligibility for Inter-Community Team Tryouts).

2008-2009 Membership Fees
Wilmette Tennis Club Memberships for the 2008-2009 season are now available to Resident and Non-Resident players. Memberships are valid from June 1, 2008 - May 31, 2009. Current 2007-2008 Memberships expire May 31, 2008.

How To Join the Wilmette Tennis Club
Fill out the 2008-2009 Wilmette Tennis Club Membership Application and include the appropriate membership fee. Checks should be made payable to the Wilmette Park District. You may send your application form to: Wilmette Tennis Club, 2300 Old Glenview Rd., Wilmette, IL 60091. When paying with cash or credit card, payment must be made in person—please bring your membership application and payment to the Wilmette Tennis Club. Note: Residents should also bring proof of residency. Applications for family membership should be submitted on one application form. Membership may not be charged to tennis accounts. Non-Resident users playing in resident groups do not qualify for membership discounts.

Advantages of Membership

  • Resident and Non-Resident adult members may participate in the annual Reserved Court Time Lottery to select a permanent court time for the 2008-2009 Indoor Season.
  • Members may reserve open court time, either in person or by phone, eight (8) days in advance of play.
  • Members have use of locker rooms and lounges.
  • Members have charge privileges in the Tennis Pro Shop and at the facility. Member charges are payable in full upon receipt of statement. Failure to pay before the end of the month will result in suspension of charge privileges. Accounts 60 days delinquent will be subject to suspension of playing privileges.
  • Members enjoy Pro Shop discounts of 10% on racquet purchases and 20 % on shoes and clothing purchases (miscellaneous items not included). These discounts apply only to those items not already on sale.
  • Members may also receive additional benefits during the season, such as guest passes and court time discount coupons.

Special Membership Notes

  • Residents: Those living in Wilmette may purchase a membership and apply for Season Reserved Court Time. Proof of residency for each member is required to receive Resident rates.
  • Non-Residents:  Those living outside of Wilmette may purchase a membership and apply for Season Reserved Court Time. Non-Resident members may also play on a Season Reserved basis with a group of residents.
  • Member Reservations: Members are entitled to reserve 1½ hours of open court time, not already seasonally reserved, eight (8) days to the hour in advance. Thereafter, courts will be sold by phone or in person. Persons reserving open court time are responsible for the cost of the court unless canceled at least 24 hours in advance of play.
  • Non-Member Reservations: A non-member may reserve court time, when available, not more than 24 hours in advance of play. Non-members pay the court fee and an additional surcharge when reserving time. The non-member adult surcharge is $10 per 1 ½ hours and $7 per hour. The non-member junior surcharge is $4 per 1 ½  hours and $3 per hour. Fees may be paid by cash, check or major credit card payment (Visa, MasterCard, Discover).
  • Guest Policy: A non-member (Adult or Junior) may play as a guest twenty (20) times during the Indoor Season, paying a $6.50 guest fee each time of play (Juniors $4.50). Fifty percent of all registered guest fees may be applied toward a half-year membership (second half of season). Guest fees after January 1, 2009 will not be applied toward half-season memberships. All Non-Members must pay guest fees for all member reserved court times. Guest fees will be charged to the member reserving the court if a guest, who plays in their group, fails to pay the guest fee or a member fails to present their membership card.

2008-2009 Court Times and Fees
September 7, 2008 to May 3, 2009

Court times may be reserved between 7 a.m.-10:30 p.m., Sunday through Thursday; Friday from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Rates vary from $24-$42 per 1½ hours of court time, depending on the time and day. Rates are displayed per 1½ hour rate (full season court rates are in parenthesis).
Members may permanently reserve court time or reserve time up to eight (8) days in advance. Non-members may reserve court time 24 hours in advance, in person only, at the Wilmette Tennis Club. Portions of this schedule may be affected by holidays. No Season Reserved Court times on: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve after 5:30 p.m., Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve after 5:30 p.m., or New Year’s Day.

Juniors can reserve non-prime times at a special discounted rate of $20 per 1½ hours. Parents' memberships may not be used to obtain Junior Court Time. Juniors cannot receive these rates when purchasing available permanent court time. Juniors who reserve prime time will pay the regular rates. Junior non-members are charged a $4.50 guest fee at all times and may be a guest a maximum of  five times.
