Wilmette Park District
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
As we monitor the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) daily and follow the recommendations of county and state health organizations, the safety of our patrons, participants, and staff is our top priority
PLEASE NOTE THE EXTENSION OF OUR FACILITY SHUTDOWN: In accordance with the extension of Governor Pritzker’s Stay At Home order, the Wilmette Park District has extended our closure of all facilities and playgrounds through May 30.
The Spring 2020 Session of programming which runs March 30 through June 7 (June 14 for Centennial Ice) has been canceled and Park District staff will apply a prorated refund to your Household Account for all canceled programming and classes from March 13 through the Spring 2020 Session. All memberships will also be extended for time lost. Parties and rentals scheduled through May 30 will be canceled with a full refund.
Wilmette Golf Club
Wilmette Golf Club has been approved to resume operations as of May 1, 2020. Illinois state guidelines were published on Friday, April 24. Our staff worked throughout the weekend to solidify plans for operations in accordance with the state’s guidelines. By this evening, further information regarding the operations during the State’s restrictions, as well as how to make a tee time, will be found by clicking here and going to golfwilmette.com.
Independence Day Celebration
With the extension of the governor’s orders, Park District staff continues to internally discuss all special events throughout the summer, including Wilmette’s traditional July 3rd 5K and the evening’s Fun & Fireworks celebration. At this time, no formal decisions have been made. We are preparing to have finalized all planning and details for the July events by the end of May.
Pools and Beaches
No formal decision has been made regarding the opening of the Wilmette Beaches and Centennial Aquatic Center. The Park District does not feel there is sufficient guidance to make an informed decision to either cancel the season entirely or delay the opening. Staff continues to monitor the situation daily, and as official guidelines are made public, we will react accordingly. If you have purchased a beach and/or pool season pass and there is lost time or the season is canceled, you will receive a prorated or full refund once the season is determined.
There have been no formal decisions as of yet, regarding our 2020 Summer Camp Season. While the Park District is optimistic there will be summer camps, we are awaiting guidance from the state regarding in-person camps. Staff is working on a plan to facilitate camps within our “new normal” practices, including but not limited to smaller groups, limiting outside village-limits fieldtrips, curbside camper drop off and pick up, staff and camper PPE, increased hand washing rotations, and enhanced site cleaning and sanitizing procedures. We do not predict to have a determination regarding camps until the week of May 25. If the Park District cancels camps, we will communicate to all registered families as soon as possible and a full refund will be issued. If camps proceed for the 2020 season and families choose to withdraw before the first day of camps, the Park District will issue a full refund.
Wilmette Tennis Club
