About Gillson Park and the Wilmette Beaches

  • Gillson Park offers 60 acres of beautiful lakefront property, ideal for picnics, bicycling, volleyball, soccer, tennis, and many other spring and summer outdoor activities. 
  • Dogs on leash are allowed in Gillson Park EXCEPT during special events such as Independence Day. Leashes must not exceed 10 feet in length and owners are responsible for clean-up. Dogs wearing Beach Permit tags are allowed off-leash in the fenced Dog Beach area located between the pier and the harbor mouth at the south end of Gillson Park. Dogs are NOT allowed on the public swimming and sailing beaches.
  • Public swimming and wading are allowed in the buoyed swimming area only.
  • Langdon Park Beach is open for swimming and operates under the same rules as Gillson Beach. Season Passes or a Daily Admission fee are required for admission.
  • No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the park or on the beaches.
  • When safety hazards are present, the beach and water may be closed temporarily at the discretion of the Lakefront Manager.
  • Flotation devices are not allowed in the water except Coast Guard approved life jackets when worn properly.

2010 Wilmette Beach Season Passes

NEW Photo ID Card 

Beginning this summer, photo ID cards will be issued to holders of Wilmette Beach Season Passes. Photo ID cards are currently used as membership cards to the Centennial Family Aquatic Center, Centennial Ice Rinks, Wilmette Tennis Club, Wilmette Golf Club and the Center Fitness Club. If you hold a current Wilmette Park District photo ID card all you need to do it pay your 2010 beach season pass fee and your card will automatically record your status as a Wilmette Beach season pass holder. 

Season Pass Guidelines

  • Wilmette Beach season passes are now renewable from season to season. The season pass is a photo ID card which can be used only by the person to whom it has been issued. It is not transferable. Anyone two years or older by May 29, 2010 must have a photo ID card or pay a daily fee to enter the beach.
  • Wilmette resident senior citizens 65 and older, with proper identification (i.e., driver's license, state-issued ID, passport), applying in person, receive a discount off the price of individual pool, beach or both when purchased together.
  • In-Home Child Care Provider season passes from 2009 are not renewable.Child care providers must apply in person with a with a letter from their employer to serve as proof of employment in order to purchase this discounted season pass. Note: In-Home Child Care Providers may not be counted as a family member on a family pass.
  • Application forms for Wilmete Beach and Centennial Family Aquatic Center season passes are available online and at any Park District facility.
  • Season Pass refunds are not given for any reason after Opening Day.
     

Your 2009 Season Pass is Renewable

  • Renewal forms are mailed to everyone who purchased a Wilmette Beach or Centennial Family Aquatic Center season pass in 2009. If you did not receive a renewal form please contact the Park District at 847-256-6100.
  • You may renew your season pass online or in person at any Park District facility during regular business hours.
     

To apply for a NEW photo ID pass

  • Submit an application form, all appropriate fees and indentification establishing your residency at any Park District facility during regular business hours
  • ID photos can be taken at any Park District facility during regular business hours.
  • Plan ahead and avoid the last minute rush: Early Birds save when you buy season passes before May 1. Beginning May 1, regular season pass rates will be in effect.
  • Please do not discard your photo ID card. The cards are reusable and serve as membership/season pass cards to the Center Fitness Club, Wilmette Tennis Club, the Wilmette Golf Club and Centennial Ice RInks if you have joined these facilities separately.

Guest Pass Ticket Book

Bring your guests to Wilmette’s beaches! Guest pass ticket books are available to resident and non-resident season pass holders. Resident season pass holders pay $48 for a 12-ticket book. Non-resident season pass holders pay $96 for a 12-ticket book. There is a maximum of two ticket books per family for the season. Guest Pass books can be purchased at any Park District facility. Guest tickets are valid only inthe season purchased. There are no refunds for unused tickets.
