    Winter 2019 Youth, Adult & Family Art Workshops:

    • Glass Fusion for ages 12 with a parent or adults: Come and make glass art on your own or with your child! Through this project-based class, participants will gain the fundamental knowledge about fusing glass, design principles and the importance of safety. Working with various types of glass (sheets, frit, powder, stringers, etc) and two basic techniques (fusion and relief), students can make decorative hanging pieces, such as ornaments, pendants, and glass tiles or plates. Pieces are fired in our own ceramics kilns. Participants are encouraged to continue beyond one session. In the parent and youth class participants should enroll separately. Click here!
    • Mosaic Art for ages 9-12: Kids will learn the fundamentals of mosaics using glass, ceramic tiles and other materials in this textile class. We will cover basic cutting techniques, materials, design principles and the importance of safety while learning to set tile, grout and clean their mosaic. Final works of art will be created from a simple design of their choice using a variety of pieces. This class is perfect for any young artist who is just beginning mosaics or for an experienced student looking for the next challenge. Click here!
    • Art Club for ages 7-10: An exclusive membership club for creative kids held at the Community Recreation Center. Each week, a different project will be presented and new mediums and techniques explored. Members will learn drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramic painting, how to work with clay, glass fusing and so much more-the possibilities are endless! In the fall, the club will take a field trip to a local gallery to talk to artists and learn about the pieces. Art club is great for those who enjoy being creative and want to become better artists.     • NOW FULL - NEW Preschool Dance Camp #623007 - Preschool Dance Camp is a great introduction to our dance program for aspiring young dancers! Each day will be filled with a variety of dance and craft activities to accommodate the attention span and physical strength of a young dancer, including ballet, hip hop, improv, a snack break, and story time revealing the chosen fairytale of the day. Choreography coincides with the characters in the story, dancers will participate in a craft activity pertaining to the day's story, and will put on costumes to demonstrate their own dance creations for parents on the last day. Participants must be able to attend independently and be toilet trained.
    • NEW Little World Travelers Camp #613004 - Aloha! In this one week camp, preschool travelers will immerse themselves in a new culture each day through dance, crafts, music, stories, indoor and outdoor activities and a snack. Campers should wear casual clothing, be able to attend independently, and be fully toilet trained. Fee includes Little World Travelers tee.
    • Arts in the Parks Tween #624002 - This new section of Arts in the Park is specifically designed for the tween artist! Fine art mediums such as water colors, pastels, acrylics, fine drawing and plaster are studied as well as unique media such as recycled materials, mosaics, glass fusion, on the wheel ceramics and more. Weekly art history lessons focusing on a famous artist combined with a homage-inspired project continue the young artists' training. Campers will also participate in free swim at Centennial Family Aquatic Center (lessons are not part of this program) as well as one to two field trips per week. Arts in the Parks are offered in two 4-week sessions-you may sign-up for one or both sessions as projects are not repeated. Campers must be 11 years old by the first day of camp, will be split into groups according to age, and should bring a bag lunch with a beverage. This camp meets at the Community Recreation Center.
    • Arts in the Parks 5-Day #624002 - Young artists are on location at the Community Recreation Center four days a week and visit a variety of field trip locations once a week in this unique art-exploration camp. Fine art mediums such as water colors, pastels, acrylics, fine drawing and plaster are studied as well as unique media such as recycled materials. Weekly art history lessons focusing on a famous artist combined with a homage-inspired project continue the young artists' training. Campers will also participate in gymnastics, movement, ceramics and free swim at Centennial Family Aquatic Center (lessons are not part of this program). Arts in the Parks are offered in two 4-week sessions-you may sign-up for one or both sessions as projects are not repeated. Campers must be 6 years old by the first day of camp, will be split into groups according to age, and should bring a bag lunch with a beverage. This camp meets at the Community Recreation Center.
    • Arts in the Parks 3-Day #624001 - Similar to the 5-day program, the 3-day camp includes famous artist exploration, ceramics, gymnastics and movement. One field trip is included for each session, and campers will have free swim once a week at Centennial Family Aquatic Center (lessons are not part of this program). Arts in the Parks are offered in two 4-week sessions-you may sign-up for one or both sessions as projects are not repeated. Campers must be 6 years old by the first day of camp, will be split into groups according to age, and should bring a bag lunch with a beverage. This camp meets at the Community Recreation Center. Campers must be 6 years old by the first day of camp.
    • Arts in the Parks 2-Day #624003 - Designed for the soon-to-be kindergartner or camper who just finished kindergarten, this camp meets two days a week. Included are not only art projects using a variety of materials, but also a weekly gymnastics class, daily snack, outdoor games, and more. Offered in two 4-week sessions, campers may register for both sessions as projects are not repeated. Campers must be 5 years old by the first day of camp to attend. This camp is held at the Community Recreation Center.
    • Arts in the Parks 1-Week #624006 - Would you like to experience a week or two of Arts in the Parks, but are unable to commit to a full session? Try our one week art camp! Campers signing up for single week sessions will participate in the same art projects and fun as our four week camps including famous artist, group projects, free swim, gymnastics and Friday field trips! Note: ceramics is not included in this camp. Campers must be 6 years old by the first day of camp, will be split into groups according to age, and should bring a bag lunch with a beverage. This camp meets at the Community Recreation Center. Campers must be 6 years old by the first day of camp.
    • Dance Camp #623001 - Welcome dancers of all levels! Dance campers will partake in daily technique classes that focus on alignment, flexibility, coordination, strength and self-expression in major dance styles including: Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Tap, Hip Hop and surprise genres. Our instructors will teach original choreography as well as guide dancers to create their own dances. We will take one field trip or have the opportunity to take a master class each session. Activities will also include outdoor play, dance and theater games and weekly swim trips to Centennial Family Aquatic Center. Swimming lessons are not part of this program. Dancers must have ballet, jazz and tap shoes, may sign up for one or both sessions, and must be 8 by the first day of camp. Each session is taught and designed to culminate in the final performance on the last Friday of the session. Please note-this camp is not compatible with District 39 Enrichment or Afternoon Adventures. This camp meets at the Community Recreation Center.
    • Broadway Bound #613001 - Each session of this performing arts camp is jam packed with acting, singing, dancing, lighting, audio and stage crew activities that culminate in a full length junior production complete with costumes and set. Field trips, outdoor games, cast parties and pop up activities really round out this spectacular camp. No experience is necessary and campers will be given equal opportunity to perform or be behind the scenes. Session 1 (Phantom Tollbooth Jr) and Session 2 (Starmites Lite) performances will be the final Wednesday and Thursday of each session at 10am and 6pm in the auditorium of the Community Recreation Center. Campers must be 8 years old by the first day of camp. Please note-this camp is not compatible with District 39 Enrichment or Afternoon Adventures. This camp meets at the Community Recreation Center.
      SESSION 1: Phantom Tollbooth Jr. Transported to the Land of Wisdom, Milo is thrust into adventure when Princesses Rhyme and Reason need rescuing in order to bring peace between two kings. The kings, from Dictionopolis and Digitopolis, are feuding over whether "words" or "numbers" are most important in their kingdoms.
      SESSION 2: Starmites Lite: Dreaming her way into a comic book adventure in Innerspace, Eleanor saves the galaxy in this zingy rock musical. It is Eleanor, Spacepunk, the Starmites and the lizard man against the evil Banshees (weird women with dangerous hair-dos) led by Diva and Shak Graa.
    • Movie Star Camp #613003 - This camp provides a unique opportunity for children to learn film acting skills and then actually be in a short film. The movie is shot by professionals and then, when the film is complete, the kids are given a chance to "walk the red carpet" at their very own movie premiere, complete with paparazzi and fans! Experience the excitement of starring in your own short movie. Learn acting skills from an experienced Hollywood crew, who has worked with Disney and Nickelodeon studios. Each camper will receive a speaking role in our movie which is filmed throughout the week, as well as a DVD copy of their professionally filmed and edited movie. Then, they are invited, along with family and friends, to attend our red-carpet movie premiere on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 6:30 pm at the Community Recreation Center.
    • Young Rembrandts Late Summer Camps #624005 - Enroll your elementary student in a Young Rembrandts Late Summer Camp! Styles vary from camp to camp and are sure to provide some warm weather fun!
