Sign up your little one for the ultimate first-time sports experience! Each week, adults assist their tots as they play a body-challenging sport, improve listening skills, and learn how to follow directions. We explore a variety of sports such as soccer, t-ball, basketball, and kickball through fun games and partner play. Help your tot develop basic sports movement and motor skills. We provide the sports equipment and instruction to help guide your child through an introduction to organized sports, while focusing on hand/eye and hand/foot coordination. Monday mornings

We assist parents as they guide their children through exploratory movement, large motor play, and interactive activities. Through obstacle courses, balloons and paddles, ball skills, parachute time, creative exercises, free time play and sports games, children develop body awareness, build social skills, and expand their imaginations. Let's play! Your child explores the wide world of sports as they participate in a different sport each week, such as t-ball, track & field, basketball, lacrosse and soccer. ARCHERY

Age 6-13 w/adult
You and your child will meet new friends while learning the parts of an arrow and recurve bow; the basics of using the bow; a nationally-recognized beginners' 9 steps to the 10-ring progression method; and fundamental shooting skills from an experienced instructor. We provide the blunt-tipped arrows, bows, and targets. Saturday mornings

ARCHERY

Age 7-13
Archery participants learn the parts of an arrow and recurve bow, the basics of using a recurve bow, and fundamental shooting skills in an extremely safe environment. They also learn an excellent, nationally-recognized beginner's 9-steps to the 10-ring progression, created by the Coaches Development Committee of the National Archery Association. Both technique and games are part of this class. We provide the blunt-tipped arrows, bows, and targets. Bring a labeled water bottle. We offer Beginner and Advanced Beginner levels. LITTLE SLUGGERS

In this program, young athletes learn baseball fundamentals such as running the bases, throwing, catching, fielding, and hitting the ball off a tee. Exciting drills and games help children learn about teamwork and good sportsmanship, in an atmosphere where participation and fun are top priority. Bring a labeled water bottle and mitt. FALL BASEBALL LEAGUE
Age 3-4 and 5-6
Participants in both the Minor (T-Ball) and Major (Coach Pitch) Leagues can sign up individually, as part of a small group, or as a complete 10-member team.

For ages 3-4, IBA Minor League players gain confidence, improve coordination, and appreciate the joys of teamwork & sportsmanship. Each week, IBA coaches will teach and guide the practice of a new baseball skill. Players learn and have fun through age-appropriate drills and games. This class is designed to introduce the sport of basketball to children and help them to develop motor skills and hand-eye coordination through fun drills and games. Kindergarten and Grade 1-8
Join the Wilmette Athletics coaching staff for our youth basketball clinics! Coaches instruct players through a variety of age-appropriate drills to develop ball handling skills, shooting form, and court awareness. Players apply these skills in fun games including sharks and minnows, dribble knockout, and steal the bacon. Assorted days/times by grade


FENCING

Age 6-9 and 9-12
The Olympic sport of fencing demands a blend of tactical and strategic thought, and a physical execution of those decisions. We cover basic rules, etiquette, footwork, attacks and defenses. Classes consist of warmup time, footwork time, a group lesson and bouting. We provide all the equipment. Monday afternoons

Enjoy Nerf football with your child! You, along with our accomplished coaches, will help your little athlete learn the proper form and techniques for catching, throwing, center skills, hand-offs, kick-offs and more, in a fun and friendly setting. Saturday mornings

FUN WITH FOOTBALL
Age 3-5
Are you ready for some football? In this class, we use Nerf footballs to cover passing, catching and team offense/defense in a safe and fun environment. We'll play controlled scrimmages once players learn the basic skills. Wednesday afternoons

[On-The-Go Sports]
NON-CONTACT FOOTBALL
Age 6-12
This high-energy non-contact football clinic teaches the fundamentals, including passing, receiving, blocking and routes. Participants receive top-notch instruction from coaches who have played the sport on a collegiate or professional level. On-The-Go Sports is lead by former Northwestern star and Chicago Bear Chris Martin. Classes include scrimmages, and occasional guest speakers. Location: West Park. Monday or Wednesday evenings


LACROSSE

LACROSSE FOR TOTS
Age 4-6
Play lacrosse like the big kids! This recreational class covers basic lacrosse techniques, including cradling, scooping, passing, catching, shooting and goalie skills. We use age-appropriate-size sticks and softer balls for safety. Bring a labeled water bottle. Monday or Saturday afternoons

Join us to experience one of our fastest-growing sports! Young athletes learn techniques including cradling, passing, catching, shooting, goalie skills, defense, and much more in this recreational program. MARTIAL ARTS

PRE-KARATE/SAFETY
Age 4-6
In our Pre-Karate classes, children develop flexibility, strength, and coordination through fun, yet disciplined, activities. This program is specifically designed for growing minds and bodies to enhance memory and agility. Watch your child's confidence blossom as skills improve! Uniforms and belt testing are options available through the ISKC instructor. NOTE: beginning students are not permitted to register into the current session after the second class has met. TAEKWONDO
Age 6-18
Basic techniques of Taekwondo, combined with deep breathing exercises, help children develop proper posture, concentration and coordination. Practice of proper manners helps to develop courtesy, self-esteem and self-control. Class is taught in a relaxed and fun environment. Students should wear a martial arts uniform during class (white Taekwondo uniform-dobock, which can be ordered at the class). Instructor Grand Master Kim has more than 50 years of martial arts training, and has been teaching students at the Wilmette Park District since 1998. YOUTH/ADULT KARATE
Age 7 & up
Develop flexibility, strength and coordination in fun, yet disciplined activities. This program offers a good mix of strength training, with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises. Students increase their coordination, agility and poise, as well as learn lasting personal safety skills. They also benefit from the mental stimulation of learning the choreographed moves of the kata and the discipline of conforming to the class rules. Uniforms and Belt Testing are available from our instructor. Our Youth, Parent/Child and Adult classes may train together. Beginning students may not join the current session after the second class has met. Tuesday evenings

Parent/Child classes are a great way to spend quality time with your child while conditioning muscles, developing coordination and improving cardiovascular fitness. This class is for beginners who want to learn traditional Taekwondo for self-defense, health, physical fitness and stress release. The instructor emphasizes practice of basic blocks, punches, kicks, stretches and deep breathing. This class is for advancing beginners who have some experience and want to move at a faster pace to improve their basic shots and strategy. Players participate in challenging drills to work on consistency in forehand and backhand shots, serving, volleying, dinks and lobs. Through matches played each week, players will take their game to the next level by learning how to play smarter, not harder. We provide the equipment. Wednesday mornings

PICKLEBALL FOR ADULTS: BEGINNER

Be part of the fast-growing pickleball trend, and learn how to play this fun sport that combines aspects of tennis, badminton and ping pong! Pickleball is a paddle sport enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. This class includes instruction on dinking, partner work, feet movement, lobs, drop shots, serves and more. We play games to reinforce the new skills we're learning. We provide all the equipment you need. Thursday evenings

COACH ABE'S MINI SOCCER
Age 3-4
This class is a great introduction to the game of soccer for three and four-year-olds. Each player learns the first steps to ball mastery and acquires the necessary building blocks for success in the future. We teach the following moves: Stop and Go, Rollbacks, controlled dribbling, dancing on the ball, Beckenbaur and many more. The Early Fall session class will meet outside!

COACH ABE'S SOCCER ACADEMY
Come play soccer with Coach Abe in a fun and safe environment! As each child progresses, they learn new and more challenging moves. We introduce new concepts at each level, with new games and a broader understanding of the tactical side. The game is broken down to each student's level; Coach Abe takes pride in improving everyone's game. Students learn the following moves: Zig-Zag dribbling, Tuck and Under, inside hook, outside hook, the Maradona, Cruff, scissors, and many more. We finish each class with a scrimmage.


SOFTBALL

SOFTBALL SKILLS CLINICS
Age 6-8 and 9-12
Level One: This class is a complete introduction to softball for the budding softball star. Learn about the bases, field positions and defensive mechanics while developing skills in throwing and hitting. We play games every day with instructors pitching. Players use an 11" Softie or indoor softball. A softball glove is required. Saturday afternoons

Level Two: Learn how to play each position effectively, with instructional focus on base coverage and infield/outfield teamwork. Develop your offensive game; learn how to bunt and fine-tune your swing. We also cover base running and how to steal and slide. Saturday afternoons


TRACK AND FIELD

Age 3-5
This unique class will combine stretching, movement, and other fitness concepts with running, jumping, throwing and other skills used in track and field. Children will work on body coordination, agility, balance, and self-confidence. The session will conclude with a fun-filled track and field meet on the last day of the class. Please bring a labeled water bottle. Monday afternoons

YOUTH TRACK & FIELD
Age 6-10
This class introduces kids to track and field, one of the oldest sports that continues to grow that's highlighted by the Olympics every 4 years. Athletes will learn the jumping, running and throwing skills involved in the sport of track and field. They'll practice sprints, relays, long-distance walking, running hurdles, long jump, discus throw and other track and field events. One the last day of class we'll have a fun-filled track and field meet! Please bring a labeled water bottle. Monday afternoons


VOLLEYBALL

VOLLEYBALL SKILLS CLINICS
Age 6-9 and 10-13
This clinic includes instruction on all major volleyball skills; serving, passing, setting and attacking. Players receive a solid foundation of these fundamental skills through fun and active drills, building up to team play. This class is for the volleyball beginner looking to understand the game and learn new skills. Kneepads are recommended. Tuesday and Thursday evenings
